The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Bank Clinical Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy team, working flexibly across clinical and dispensary services. This role offers exposure to a diverse and specialist caseload, including:

  • Renal and urology
  • Neurosurgery
  • Orthopaedic and spinal surgery
  • Colorectal surgery
  • Gastroenterology
  • Plastics and reconstructive surgery

You will provide a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to designated wards, supporting safe and effective medicines use and contributing to high‑quality patient care throughout the treatment pathway.

Key aspects of the role include medicines optimisation on admission and discharge, providing evidence‑based medicines advice to healthcare professionals and patients, and supporting continuity of care. You will also participate in dispensary services, ensuring prescriptions are clinically appropriate and safely dispensed.

Participation in the weekend, late evening, and bank holiday rota is required, alongside involvement in the on‑call pharmacy service, providing urgent medicines and clinical advice when needed.

You will also contribute to training, audits, and service improvement initiatives, while working towards or completing a Clinical Pharmacy Diploma.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Post‑registration experience within a UK hospital pharmacy setting
  • Experience across a range of clinical rotations
  • Strong clinical knowledge and commitment to evidence‑based practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities
  • Commitment to continuous professional development

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience
  • Independent Prescriber status
  • Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) or UKCPA
  • Experience participating in on‑call or extended hours pharmacy services
  • Experience in audit and service improvement activities
